St George is the patron saint of England and is honoured every year on 23 April. St George is associated with the legend of St George and the Dragon; a mythical tale in which brave George saved a town from a terrifying dragon. This story is based on a man named George who was born around 280AD and became a Christian soldier of the Roman Empire.
You will find many events happening across London for St George’s Day, one of the highlights being the Feast of St George in Trafalgar Square. This iconic space will host parades, food festivals, children’s activities and much more.
As St George’s Day isn’t a public holiday in the UK, events and activities usually take place on the weekend closest to 23 April 2015.
