Description

Travel by train from New York on an unescorted day trip to Washington DC, capital of the USA! Everything is pre-arranged, including round-trip transfers from your hotel to Pennsylvania Station, your return train tickets to Washington DC, lunch and a four-hour fully guided sightseeing tour of the US capital.

The tour starts off with lunch upon arriving at the capital. After lunch, you will see the  first of many visit to Washington DC’s many historical attractions.

The first stop is the Lincoln Memorial. The memorial to the United State’s 16th President is a must-see landmark and is noted for being the site where Martin Luther King’s delivered his famous “I Have A Dream” speech in 1963.

The tour then stops at the Korean and Vietnam Veterans Memorials. The Korean War Veteran’s Memorial’s immense statues depict 19 US infantrymen plodding on against the cold Korean winter. The Vietnam Veterans Memorial honours the many men who died in the war, many of whom are still unaccounted for. The memorial consists of three parts: the Three Soldiers statue, the Vietnam Women's Memorial, and the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall, which is the most recognized part of the memorial.

The next landmark to be visited is the Marine Corps or Iwo Jima Memorial. The famous bronze statues overlooking Washington DC is a tribute to marines who died in service. The statues illustrate the now iconic photo of five marines and a navy soldier raising the American flag at Iwo Jima.

You will then visit Arlington National Cemetery to  view the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, the Kennedy gravesites and the Changing of the Guard. The cemetery is perhaps the most famous in the world where thousands of American military men and women who fought and died for their country were laid to rest.

The tour finishes with a drive through the city to view all the other famous landmarks of the capital -the Library of Congress, the Supreme Court, the Congressional office buildings, FBI Building, the White House, Federal Triangle and Embassy Row.
