Alnwick Castle is the second largest inhabited castle in England, and has been the home of the Percys, Earls and Dukes of Northumberland since 1309, making this year the 700 year anniversary. Alnwick Castle is one of the largest inhabited castles in England, and proudly known as 'The Windsor of the North'. 700 Years Exhibition, the Percy Family at Alnwick. Alnwick Castle and barony was purchased by the Percy Family in 1309. A family member has been selected for each subsequent century in an exhibition telling something of the story of the Percys, castle and estate. Each character has a display to be discovered during a Castle visit.
