The practice of life drawing has long been considered essential training for aspiring artists. This special exhibition project takes an inquisitive look at the tradition, and its ongoing relationship with artists today.

Starting with iconic work drawn from the RA Collection, the exhibition will trace a line from the origins of the RA in the 18th century to the present day. You’ll explore contemporary work by artists including Jonathan Yeo and numerous Royal Academicians including Antony Gormley and Gillian Wearing.

The exhibition will also display fascinating new interactive work from Yinka Shonibare, Humphrey Ocean and Farshid Moussavi. Through these, you’ll discover how new technologies including HTC Vive and Tilt Brush by Google are providing artists exciting new ways to represent themselves and the world around them.

Discover over 250 years of ideas, practice and technology in the making.
