London’s Top Restaurants Are Now Delivering To Your Door

London’s Top Restaurants Are Now Delivering To Your Door

There aren’t many perks to this lock down despite the abundance of people taking to social media to show us all their perfect sourdough loaves and ‘accidental’ half marathons.

We can be scathing about the foodie trends flooding our algorithm but in this time of fewer and simple comforts, food has taken on a new responsibility for most of us. Takeaways have become more of an event than usual, the only break from the taste of your own food and with many of us seriously missing our summer nights out at the moment, we’ve put together a list of London’s top restaurants now offering takeaway.

It’s not perfect, but why not put on that dress or fancy shirt you’ve been saving, pick a playlist, order some champagne and splash out on the fanciest take away you’re ever likely to have?

Hakkasan, Mayfair

This Michelin starred Mayfair restaurant has been the epicentre of modern Cantonese cuisine in London since 2001. Known for its high-end dishes and opulent décor, a table for two in Hakkasan is usually a big deal, so chuck on your best outfit and splash out on the black truffle roast duck or their signature dim sum to enjoy at home! You can also order a rather fancy bottle of champagne to accompany the poshest take out ever, prices start from £55 for a bottle of NV Louis Roederer Brut Premier 12%. Hakkasan has two London branches, one in Mayfair and one in the City, both offering delivery and collection.

A relatively new restaurant in the east London culinary scene, Angelina opened its doors in February 2019 and has since made waves in the food world becoming a firm favourite of critics and punters alike. This unique restaurant offers skilfully put together Japanese-Italian fusion dishes. Think Italian and Japanese food are worlds apart? I give you tempura and fritto misto, sashimi and crudo, think ‘Italian food with intriguing Japanese grace notes’, writes food critic Jay Rayner. Makes a change from your standard pizza or sushi. By ordering from Angelina you’ll also be supporting their great work during this crisis working with charity Made in Hackney to get emergency meals to those in need, as well as the Hackney Migrant Centre and numerous homeless shelters in the Hackney community. Order online, they are currently delivering on Friday evenings, £34 will get you a starter, main and dessert.

Beigel Bake, Brick Lane

A firm favourite of Shoreditch revellers and local residents alike, we have to admit this place isn’t fancy, at all, but it had to make the list! This beloved bakery and stalwart of the East End is now open for delivery! Salt beef beigels, smoked salmon, fresh bread, and slices of cheesecake big enough to make you sweat, you can even order a cup of pickles. Everything is still unbelievably cheap (£2.70 for a smoked salmon and £1.49 for cheesecake), but there is a very understandable delivery charge which goes up or down depending on how far away you live. Download their app Beigel Bake and they’ll  delivery until 7:30pm, usually within the hour, the perfect way to jazz up your lockdown lunches.

The Sea, The Sea, Chelsea

Amazing seafood is why a lot of us go out to dinner, it’s decadent, fiddly, and easy to ruin so we usually leave it up to the professionals. The Sea, The Sea is a chef-led deli and seafood bar on Chelsea’s Pavilion Road with a team made up of highly experienced chefs from some of London’s best restaurants. They are taking orders Tuesday – Saturday 11am – 4pm for all your fancy night in needs. The menu changes regularly but currently you can order such ocean delights as Portuguese octopus salad (£10) or cured cod with pickled potato noodles and coriander oil (£8), which are light dishes, perfect for sharing and ready to eat. Oven-ready main meals are also available and are along the lines of black cod marinated with miso and rice (£15), salmon belly with tomato ragout and samphire (£12), and turbot ‘chop’ on the bone with cider vinegar, lemon zest, garlic and baby gem lettuce (£18). Perfect for enjoying with a glass of white wine in the sun.  Order at delivery@theseathesea.net or call 020 7824 8090.
