Below you will find historic known disruptions to our services that have been caused by such things as events, demonstrations, or road works. During the year, numerous events and marches take place in Central London, which require our routes to be diverted. Once we are notified by companies such as Transport for London or the organisers of events etc, we make changes to the route or temporarily suspend the embarking and disembarking at effected bus stops, to ensure that your day is impacted as little as possible.
Sunday 28th May - Ride London
There will be a number of road closures on this day.
Monday 22 May to Friday 26 May – Belvedere Road closed
Due to a crane operation on Belvedere Road our buses will be on diversion from Monday 22nd to Friday 26th of May.
Blue Route: Stop 1 will not be served during this closure, the blue route will depart from TfL stop 17 which is outside M&S on York Road.
Thursday 25 May UN Peacekeepers Wreath Laying Event.
On Thursday 25th May, To facilitate a wreath laying event, Whitehall will be closed in both directions between Parliament Square and Trafalgar Square from 11:00 until 16:00.
Blue route stops: 13, 14, 15 & 16 will not be served from 11:00 AM.
Monday 22 May to Wednesday 24 May – Stop Closure on Duncannon Street
Due to telecommunication works there will be lane closures in operation and bus stop 56 on the Red Route will not be served from Monday 22nd to Wednesday 24th of May.
Red Route: Stop: 56 will not be served.
Saturday 13 May – PALESTINE SOLIDARITY MARCH
On Saturday 13 May, up to 15,000 people will be forming up in Portland Place from approximately 1200hrs. At approximately 1300 hours they will march to Whitehall via Regent Street, Piccadilly Circus, Haymarket, Trafalgar Square and Whitehall.
Blue route: stops 13, 14, 15 & 16 will not be served from 12:00 PM.
Red Route: stops 54 & 55 will not be served from 12:00 PM.

Due to a street party being held to celebrate the King's Coronation, Gloucester Road will be closed between Queens Gate Terrace and Elvaston Place
Orange Route: Stops 24, 25 and 26 will not be served all day.
Saturday 6 May 2023
The Kings coronation will take place on this day at Westminster Abbey. Many roads will be closed. As a result of this, we will not be operating Open Top Bus Tours on this day.
Tuesday 02 May 2023 - National Education Union march
National Education Union has planned a march towards Downing street which will cause diversions and road closures.
Below stops will not be served from 11AM onwards.

Victoria Embankment will be closed from 12:00 whilst up to 20,000 people march to Trafalgar Square leaving at 13:00 via Westminster Bridge, Lambeth Palace Road, Lambeth Bridge, Millbank, Parliament Square, Whitehall and Trafalgar Square.
There will also be a Million Masked march in the Parliament Square and Trafalgar Square area from 16:00.

Large numbers of people will be marching from Portland Place to Parliament Square via Regent Street, Piccadilly Circus, Haymarket, Pall Mall East, Trafalgar Square, Whitehall and Parliament Square. Parliament Square will be closed when the march reaches it.
Blue Route: Stops 13, 14 & 15 closed from 13:00 until 17:00.
Red Route: Stop 43 closed from 14:00 until 17:00. Please use stop 3 opposite.

Red Route Diversion:- From Shaftesbury Avenue right to Piccadilly towards Green Park to Hyde Park Corner and then right into Park Lane and normal line of route.
Monday 28 March from 07:00 to Thursday 31 March at 23:00 – Resurfacing Works on Strand between Aldwych & Trafalgar Square
Westminster City Council will be carrying out resurfacing works on Strand between Aldwych & Trafalgar Square.
From Trafalgar Square left into Charing Cross Road, right New Oxford Street, ahead Bloomsbury Way, ahead Vernon Place, right Southampton Row, ahead Kingsway and right at Aldwych to line of route.
Tuesday 29 March from 10:00 to 14:00 – Service of Thanksgiving Westminster Abbey
On the above date and times, a Service of Thanksgiving event will be taking place at Westminster Abbey. To facilitate this event, Broad Sanctuary and Victoria Street will be closed between Artillery Row and Parliament Square. During the event there will be temporary traffic holds between St Margaret Street and Abingdon Street to facilitate guest arrival and departure.
Red Route Diversion:- From Lambeth Palace Road at roundabout 3rd exit over Lambeth Bridge into Horseferry Road, left Greycoat Place, right Artillery Road , left into Victoria Street and normal line of route.
Blue Route Diversion:- From Victoria take Victoria Street then left into Artillery Road, left Greycoat Place, right Horseferry Road, left Millbank and line of route.
Saturday 26 March from 11:30 to 18:00 – Ukrainian Solidarity March & Vigil Park
A large group will form up on the southbound carriageway of Park Lane from approximately 12:30. At 14:00 they will march to Trafalgar Square via Piccadilly, Piccadilly Circus and Haymarket where a rally will be held until 17:00. To facilitate this, police will close the following roads:- Park Lane, Hyde Park Corner between Knightsbridge and Piccadilly, Knightsbridge from Sloane Square (eastbound only), Piccadilly, Piccadilly Circus (Including Regent Street from Conduit Street and Shaftesbury Avenue from Charing Cross Road), Haymarket, Pall Mall East, Trafalgar Square, Charing Cross Road, Strand (between Trafalgar Square and Aldwych) and Whitehall (between Trafalgar Square and Horse Guards Avenue).
Red Route Diversion:- From Grosvenor Place at Hyde Park Corner will divert left Knightsbridge, ahead Kensington Road, ahead Kensington High Street, right Kensington Church Street, right Notting Hill Gate, ahead Bayswater Road to Marble Arch and left into Edgware Road and line of route.
From High Holborn left into Kingsway to Aldwych then Right towards Waterloo Bridge.
Blue Route Diversion:- From Millbank left at Parliament Square to Broad Sanctuary to Victoria Street, left Buckingham Palace Road, left Elizabeth Bridge, left Bulleid Way, right to Buckingham Palace Road and normal line of route.
Monday 21 March to Wednesday 23 March 2022 – Westminster Bridge Memorial
Due to the anniversary of the Westminster Bridge attack, there will be a memorial service taking place on Westminster Bridge on Tuesday 22nd March for one hour from 14:00 until 15:00 or until the event concludes.
Barriers will be installed on the bridge which will result in a road closure in both directions from 21:00 on Monday 21st until 03:00 on Tuesday 22nd March 2022. The road will be closed again when the barriers are removed from 21:00 on Tuesday 22nd until 03:00 on Wednesday 23rd March 2022.
Westminster Bridge will be closed to facilitate the event, the barrier installation and removal. This will only affect us during the event on the 22nd which is scheduled for 1 hour.
Diversion from Victoria will be :- From Parliament Square, ahead St Margaret’s Street, ahead Old Palace Yard, ahead Millbank, left Lambeth Bridge, left Lambeth Palace Road to line of route.
Monday 21 March from 08:00 until 12:00 Road closures due to demonstration at Parliament Square
On the above date there will be a demonstration, using parked vehicles, taking place on the roads around Parliament Square between 08:00 & 12:00. Parliament Square will be closed during this period.
Buses towards Lambeth should divert via Westminster Bridge right into Victoria Embankment, left Horse Guards Avenue, right into Whitehall & line of route.
Buses from Victoria should divert via Victoria Street, right Artillery Road, left Greycoat Place, right Horseferry Road, ahead Lambeth Bridge, left Lambeth Bridge Road, straight on to York Road and line of route.
A guide will be at stop number 3 to assist & inform customers.
Saturday 19 March 2022 – King William Street closed southbound 09:00 to 17:00
On Saturday only between 09:00 & 17:00 follow diversion as above to Cannon Street and straight on pass Cannon Street Station and right at King William Street / Monument to London Bridge and line of route.
Diversion will be :- Divert from Victoria Street at Artillery Row then divert via right into Artillery Row, left Greycoat Place, right Horseferry Road, left Millbank, ahead Abingdon Street, ahead St Margaret Street to Parliament Square and normal line of route.
Saturday 19 March from 05:45 to Sunday 20 March at 20:00 – Filming Ludgate Hill
Ludgate Hill will be closed in both directions from 05:45 on Saturday 19th until 20:00 on Sunday 20th March 2022.
Buses will divert from Fleet Street at Ludgate Circus via left into Farringdon Street, left Charterhouse Street, left Holborn Viaduct, ahead Newgate left King Edward Street, right Angel Street, right St. Martin’s Le-Grand, left Cheapside, ahead New Change, left Cannon Street to line of route. On Saturday only a separate closure to above & diversion due to King William Street closed - see below.
We will not be able to serve stop 6 at St Pauls Cathedral but customers for St Pauls can get off & on in Newgate Street at the Route 8 bus stop.
Monday 14 March 2022 – Commonwealth Day
The Commonwealth Day Service will be taking place at Westminster Abbey. To facilitate this event, Broad Sanctuary and Victoria Street will be closed between Artillery Row and Parliament Square. During the event there will be two temporary traffic holds of up to 10 minutes between St Margaret Street and Abingdon Street to facilitate guest arrival and departure.
Diversion will be :- Divert from Victoria Street at Artillery Row then divert via right into Artillery Row, left Greycoat Place, right Horseferry Road, left Millbank, ahead Abingdon Street, ahead St Margaret Street to Parliament Square and normal line of route.
Sunday 13 March 2022 – St Patricks Day Parade
From 11:00 a parade of 18 floats with approximately 6,000 participants, 8 marching bands will be travelling from Piccadilly, Piccadilly Circus, Lower Regent Street, Waterloo Place, Cockspur Street, Trafalgar Square (southwest side), and Whitehall where they will disperse. The roads along this route will be closed from 11:00 until the parade has passed and it is deemed safe to do so.
We will divert from Parliament Square to Victoria Street to Victoria and line of route.
Friday 25 February to 1 March 2022 – Parliament Street closure
Due to a Crane Operation the road will be closed to all vehicles except buses and including tour buses from Richmond Terrace and Derby Gate. Buses & tour buses ONLY will be allowed access with the assistance of two way, two phase temporary traffic signals.
Sunday 13 February – Cancer Research UK London Winter Run
On Sunday 13th February the London Winter Run will take place with up to 12,500 participants will run on the following route :-
Trafalgar Square, Duncannon Street, Strand, Aldwych, Kingsway, Aldwych, Fleet Street, Chancery Lane, Holborn, Holborn Viaduct, Newgate Street, Lothbury, Angel Street, St Martin’s Le Grand, New Change, Cheapside, King Street, Gresham Street, Lothbury, Bartholomew Lane, Threadneedle Street, King William Street, Cannon Street, Walbrook, Bartholomew Lane, Threadneedle Street, King William Street, Cannon Street, WAlbrook, Poultry, Cheapside, Queen Street, Queen Victoria Street, Friday Street, St Pauls Church Yard, New Change, Newgate Street, New Fetter Lane, Fetter Lane, Fleet Street, Aldwych, Strand, Trafalgar Square and Whitehall.
All roads will be closed from 07:30 to all traffic to approximately 14:00 when all roads will reopen with the exception of Horse guards Road, Parliament Street, Whitehall, White Lion Hill, The Mall and Pall Mall East that will remain closed until 17:15.

The Blue route will divert from London Eye via Stamford Street, Southwark Street, STRAIGHT into Borough High Street to Tooley Street, Tower Bridge, Queen Victoria Street LEFT over Southwark Bridge, RIGHT into Southwark Street, Stamford Street, York Road, RIGHT over Westminster Bridge into Broad sanctuary, straight on Victoria Street LEFT into Buckingham Palace Road serve stop number 1, left at Elizabeth Bridge, through Bullied Way, left into Eccleston Bridge, Right into Buckingham Palace Road, left at Grosvenor Gardens, STRAIGHT into Grosvenor Pl up to Wellington Roundabout, down Park lane to Marble Arch ,turn around and back on Park lane towards Hyde Park, round the roundabout and left into Grosvenor Pl, left into Lower Grosvenor Pl, Left at Buckingham Palace road, Right at Buckingham Gate, left at Petty France, Tothill Street, left at Broad Sanctuary round Parliament Sq, straight over Westminster Bridge, RIGHT into Lambeth Palace Road, over Lambeth Bridge, right at Millbank, round Parliament Sq, over Westminster Bridge, LEFT into York Road left again at Chicheley St and right at Belvedere road.

From Pall Mall at Waterloo Place divert via ahead Pall Mall, right St James’Street, left Piccadilly to line of route.

Closure of Westminster Bridge Overnight 2100 to 0500 nightly.

Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 January 2022 – Buckingham Palace Road crane operation & road closure
Buckingham Palace Road will be closed from Victoria Street for a crane operation outside Victoria Place. We will therefore miss this section of route and go direct to Buckingham Gate to Petty France.

A group of approximately 5000 will form up from 12:00 at Portland Place. At 13:00 they will march to Hyde Park via Regent Street, Piccadilly Circus, Haymarket, Cockspur Street, Trafalgar Square, Whitehall, Parliament Square, St James Park, Constitution Hill, and Hyde Park corner. As with previous marches with this group and similar, the above route may not be adhered to on the day and ad-hoc amendments will be made with diversions put in at various times.

Stop 9 will be suspended to facilitate the crane operation
Saturday 1 January 2022 - New Year Day Parade
This is still going ahead but on a smaller scale & will be centred around Waterloo Place. It is a ticket only event (1,000 guests expected) & is an indoor event. The only closure will be Waterloo Place southbound only from 10:30 until 17:00 which will not affect our route.
