Description
An art gallery situated inside the grounds of Buckingham Palace, The King’s Gallery hosts a programme of changing exhibitions from the Royal Collection, including artisanal artefacts, furniture, artworks and trinkets.
Located in a former chapel bombed in an air raid in 1940, The King’s Gallery was developed in 1962 at the suggestion of Queen Elizabeth II and The Duke of Edinburgh. In 1997 the gallery was extensively modernised and re-opened by Queen Elizabeth II in 2002 as part of the Golden Jubilee celebrations. Come and marvel at the opulence of the Royal Collection.
Drawing the Italian Renaissance (1 November 2024 - 9 March 2025)
The Italian Renaissance period (1450-1600) pushed the artistic boundaries of artists with drawing at the heart of its development. In this exhibition, you will see the widest range of drawings from this revolutionary artistic period to ever be shown in the UK.
There will be around 160 works by over 80 artists including Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Raphael and Titian, as well as lesser-known artists, all drawn from the Royal Collection.
