Anne of Cleves House At Sussex Past
Anne of Cleves House is a 15th century timber-framed Wealden hall-house that formed part of Anne's divorce settlement from Henry VIII in 1541. The house contains wide-ranging collections of Sussex interest, including Sussex pottery, and the bedroom and kitchen are furnished to reflect an earlier period. For information on weddings and other functions in this atmospheric building please click on the link to the right.
Other displays feature Lewes from the 16th century to the present day and the Wealden ironwork gallery has artefacts from fire backs and cannon to boot-scrapers and chimney backs, illustrating this influential Sussex industry.
