Battersea Park Children Zoo
Battersea Park Children's Zoo is run by the Heap family. They have a passion for animals and experience of running two other wildlife parks at the Chestnut Centre in Derbyshire and the Otter, Owl and Wildlife Park in the New Forest. When Battersea Zoo was threatened with closure in 2003, the Heap family stepped in and saved it. This also gave them a chance to create a zoo exactly the way they wanted it - turning it into an opportunity for youngsters to enjoy, respect and learn about the animals with whom we share our planet. A visit to the world famous Battersea Park Children's Zoo in the heart of South London is a must see stop for all children - and even the adults, living in or visiting the capital! It offer an exciting animal experience that combines a zoo, animal encounters, a play area and a relaxing cafe.
Battersea Park Children's Zoo is home to a host of glorious creatures. There are farmyard animals, flamingos, otters and monkeys, as well as peacocks which roam the enclosure. From giant rabbits to miniature Shetland ponies, monkey mayhem to the mouse house - this is the zoo that gets you up close and personal. Although comparatively small, Battersea Park Children's Zoo is a wonderful institution. The animals are clearly happy in their, mainly outdoor, accommodation and the setting itself is magical. This little-known gem is a great place to go with younger children as part of a stroll round the Battersea area. The zoo entrance is at Chelsea Gate on Queenstown Road, Battersea Park, near the Peace Pagoda close to the river. Just like the 100,000 visitors receive a year to zoo, we know you'll enjoy your visit - and that the kids will want to return time and time again!
