The casting process includes origination , mould making, wax work, ceramic shell, the pour, metal finish. The next step is Patination. Patination is the final stage in the production of a bronze and often one of the most exciting stages. The finishing of bronzes by applying a patina is mostly achieved using various combinations of different layers of chemicals with heat, to achieve the desired finish. This crucial stage transforms the bronze casting, enhancing and enriching the sculpture and truly bringing the sculpture to life.

In the Bronze Age Sculpture Casting Foundry also provides services like Restoration and Repair, Scaling Up, Mould Making, Casting in Bronze, free imperial advice etc. They also help in Restoration and Repair for eg. if you have a sculpture that has been damaged, or simply needs a clean up, simply forward images and details of the damage or repair and we will be happy to assist you. A new patina can give your sculpture new life, or it may be scratched or broken – they will arrange repairs at our workshops in Limehouse.
There projects include a remarkable sculpture of Captain Mainwaring, two relief-panels (by Michael Sandle) entitled ‘Night’ and ‘Day’ were designed for a new building in St Helier, Jersey that is ‘Art-Deco’ in feel and a stunning Life-size portrait of the 44th and 1st African American President of the United States, skilfully sculpted in breathtaking detail by Douglas Jennings.
