Freightliners Farm

Freightliners Farm is situated in the London Borough of Islington, the tenth poorest borough of London, combining some of the most attractive streets, properties and squares with some very deprived areas., Freightliners is a small farm in an urban setting providing the opportunity for local individuals and groups to learn from and interact with the environment and each other through animal care, horticulture and sustainable practices. It's purpose is to provide an educational and recreational recourse for the community, promoting social welfare and quality of life through a collaborative and inclusive community project. Freightliners Farm attracts nearly 45,000 visitors, 200 school visits and numerous volunteers each year. It is a famous London tourist attraction.
Freightliners Farm was founded on wasteland behind Kings Cross station in London in 1973. Originally the animals were housed in railway goods vans, hence the name. The Farm moved to its present site in 1978 and new purpose built farm buildings were erected in 1988. Freightliners are also the only city farm in the UK which has a non-slaughtering policy. The best way to see the London is by the open top bus tour that passes through most of the attractions.
The Gardens provide the perfect environment for relaxing and taking it easy. Sit in the ornamental garden, with its array of colourful flowers and plants, or you take some ideas home with you from our kitchen garden with its wide selection of herbs, fruit trees and bushes. Join us on Wednesday afternoons for our weekly gardening club. The Farm also produces a wide range of fruit and vegetables for sale throughout the year from potatoes and onions to rhubarb.
Children can also have great fun at London with some of the London attractions for kids. The Farm has a wide variety of animals ranging from rare breed pigs and goats to new born lambs and chicks, many of which can be adopted through the Farms "Adopt an Animal Scheme". Meet Olivia and Matilda the Dexter cows, or meet any of our lovely sheep or goats. To find out more about the animals in the farm. The animal village is the petting area at the farm. Animals like rabbits, chickens and a goat are living in their painted Wendy houses. Children will have the opportunity to not only stroke the animals.
Come down to the Farm and learn about the secret world of the Honey Bee. There are 5 beehives, in the recently rebuilt apiary, producing delicious honey that is for sale in the Farm shop as well as beeswax which is made into candles and wonderful beeswax furniture polish.
In the Freightliners Farm gallery you can see the farm animals, animal village , aviary, Farm vegetables and flowers, clay oven etc. From the Farm Shop you can buy the animal cages.
The Freightliners Farm also conducts several events which include activities for kids and young people, Family fun programmes also. They also conduct educational activities, educational courses and family learning. London sightseeing with children to the Freightliners Farm will give them a chance to play The Fur Feature and Skin game and introduces young children to words and nature work they will cover at school and is a fun way for everyone to explore the farm.

Visitor Information:
The Farm is open all year round from Tuesday to Sunday. On Monday, the farm is closed except on Bank Holidays. During the Christmas period, the farm is closed for the week.
