Kettle's Yard
On Castle Street in Cambridge, is a beautiful and unique house containing a distinctive collection of modern art. Kettle's Yard was founded by H.S. 'Jim' Ede as a place where visitors would 'find a home and a welcome, a refuge of peace and order, of the visual arts and of music.'
A cross-generational oral history archive that reflects how people think and feel about Kettle's Yard. Offering a selection of extracts from interviews with people of all ages, some of whom have known Kettle's Yard for decades, some of whom were visiting for the first time.

visitor Guide:
Kettle's Yard is located at the intersection of Castle Street and Northampton Street. The Gallery entrance is via Castle Street, which is a few minutes' walk from Magdalene Bridge.
By Train / Bus /Taxi
Number C1 bus runs from the train station to Bridge Street, a short walk over Magdalene Bridge brings you to the gallery on Castle Street. By taxi it takes approximately fifteen minutes to get to Kettle's Yard from the train station.
By Road from London; the South or the West
M11, exit J13. Turn right onto the A1303 into Cambridge (the Madingley Road). At the end of this road, you will come to a mini roundabout. Turn left (lane marked straight on) onto Northampton St. Take the first left into Pound Hill (just before the Town and Gown pub); you will find a number of metered parking spaces here. Parking in this area is free after 17.00.
By Road from the North or East; from the A10, turn onto the A14 westbound. From the A14, take the 1307 exit towards Cambridge. Continue along the 1307 past Girton College. Go through the traffic lights by the Texaco petrol station then down the hill. At the bottom of the hill is a set of traffic lights. Kettle's Yard Gallery windows are on your right. Turn right onto Northampton Street, then take the first right into Pound Hill, where there are metered parking spaces. Parking in this area is free after 17.00.
Coaches should drop off parties in Northampton Street and return to collect them there. Coach parking is available on Milton Road.
