Thought the Lindisfarne Priory was founded by St. Aiden, but its credit goes to St. Cuthbert. St. Cuthbert later became the Bishop of Lindisfarne leaving his former monastery in Melrose. Like St. Aiden, St. Cuthbert lived a life of hermitage and austerity and died there.
