Welcome to the homepage of the McLean Museum and Art Gallery, one of the best municipal museums in Scotland. The Museum has served as the main museum in the Inverclyde area since it opened in 1876 and has many wonderful collections for the visitor to discover and explore.
Through our website you will be able to see the range and size of our collections, find out more in-depth information about the objects in those collections and also learn more about the various services the Museum has to offer. The Museum has extensive displays on a wide variety of subjects in addition to a regularly changing temporary exhibitions and an attractive shop.
The McLean Museum and Art Gallery is fully accredited by the Museums, Libraries and Archives Council and is rated by VisitScotland as a four star visitor attraction.

The Museum has been collecting since it opened in 1876 and today has many fine collections in a number of different fields offering a wide range of wonderful objects for your enjoyment.
In addition to outstanding collections of local material from the Inverclyde area, the Museum offers displays and collections drawn from many cultures across 3,000 years of human history.
VISITORS IFORMATION:
The Museum is open from Monday to Saturday from 10.00-17.00.
The Museum is closed on public holidays.
Admission to the Museum is free.
Please note that from time to time some parts of the building may be closed to permit exhibition changeovers.
Please Note: The Museum will be closed at lunchtime this week between 12.00 and 13.00.
