Sezincote

Sezincote is a unique and extraordinary Indian house set admist the Costwold Hills.

the architechure is in the Mogul Style of Rajasthan, with a central dome, minarets, peacock-tail windows, jail-work railings and pavilions. A curving Orangery frames the Persian Gardens of Paradise with its fountain and canals.

The house is set within a romantic garden- afine example of the Picturesque style- with pools, waterfalls, a grotto and a temple to the Hindu Sun God.

Sezincote was built in 1810 by Charles cockerell, who had worked out in India, assisted by his brother, the architech Samule Pepys Cockerell, Thomas Daniell, the great painter of Indian architectural scenery, and the landscape designer Repton.

Sezincote was the inspiration for the Brighton Pavilion.

The Garden:
Sezincote Garden is open January to November
Thursdays, Fridays and Bank Holiday Mondays: 2pm to 6pm

Admission :

The House:
The house is open May to September inclusive
Thursdays, Fridays and Bank Holiday Mondays: 2.30pm to 5.30pm
