Sir John Soane’s Museum

Sir John Soane (1753-1837) was one of England's greatest architects. Soane designed his own house on Lincoln's Inn Fields, a building of outstanding originality with its picturesque vistas and inventive handling of light and space. He filled it with a remarkable collection of art, sculpture, books, drawings and models. According to his instructions, and protected with an Act of Parliament, the house became a public museum after his death for the benefit of 'students and amateurs of art and architecture'. The collection includes paintings by Hogarth, Canaletto, Turner and Reynolds; antique sculpture; plaster casts; architectural models and an Egyptian sarcophagus. The objects are arranged in a labyrinth of top-lit spaces decorated with hundreds of mirrors. London tour gives many options to its visitors to see the London and famous London attractions. The Museum is offering placements for those wishing to pursue a career in Museum Education. Opening Times

Sir John Soane's Museum is open from Tuesday to Saturday, 10-5pm when admission is free*.

There is a special candlelit opening on the first Tuesday evening of each month, 6-9pm. No advance booking.

There is a Museum tour each Saturday at 11.00am; tickets are on sale from 10.30am and cost £5.

Closed on Sunday,  Monday, Bank holidays and Christmas Eve.
