Sledmere House
Carefully designed by Sir Christopher Sykes 2nd Baronet and nurtured by successive generations, this very special place brings new devotees every year.
Jealously guarded, but hard not to share, the atmosphere is informal, the landscape breathtaking and the welcome warm and friendly. Gardeners, antique and architecture lovers, walkers, birdwatchers, military enthusiasts, photographers, painters and music buffs all seem instantly at home.
Terrace Cafe & Shop
Terrace Cafe has a justifiable reputation for a delicious range of home cooked foods and our staff take great pride in maintaining the Sledmere tradition of fine hospitality.
Parkland & Gardens
Enjoy a leisurely stroll, long walk or just a relaxing summer picnic in the grounds along with the grazing deer nearby. Take time to explore the 18th century octagonal walled garden with herbaceous border, Mediterranean garden, fountain, summerhouse, fruit trees and vegetables.
The Wagoners Museum
This little museum, which is in the entrance area to Sledmere House, tells the story of the Wagoners' Special Reserve with photographs, papers, memorabilia and a fine medal collection. Sir Mark Sykes' uniform is also on display.
The Wagoners' Special Reserve was the brainchild of Sir Mark Sykes 6th Baronet and these men became some of the first to go abroad in the First World War, driving the horse-drawn wagons that supplied the frontline.
The museum is of interest to all. As far as we know this is the only museum devoted to a Special Reserve and is now a Charitable Trust that relies on donations.

The Triton Gallery
The magnificent building opposite the entrance to Sledmere House was built in the 1840s as a ‘Model Farm’, part of which now provides an atmospheric space for the Triton Gallery.
