Snibston Discovery Museum
Established in 1992 following closure of the Colliery, Snibston Discovery Museum is the showcase for Leicestershire’s historic science, technology, design and fashion collections. Exploring the changing technological world in which we live, through exhibitions, events and our learning programmes, you can find out more about major technological changes which have affected our everyday lives.

Mining Study Centre.
A substantial collection of material relating to coal mining is held in the Mining Study Centre at Snibston. The resources include technical aspects of the industry, digitised copies of films produced by the National Coal Board, oral history interviews and a series of maps, photographs, document and books relating to Leicestershire’s industries and transport systems.
SNIBSTON COUNTRY PARK:
Visitors can relax in the Country Park, which has beautiful picnic spots with views across North West Leicestershire and a network of paths for walking and cycling.
Adjacent to the main entrance at Snibston Discovery Museum, the Country Park was created on the former colliery spoil heap and has been transformed into a popular recreational space which includes a mature landscape of trees and grassland with numerous footpaths. There are mature woodland, developing plantation woodland, wild flower meadows, rough grassland, wildlife ponds and marshland.
