The Flambards Experience
In March 1976, Lieutenant Commander Douglas Kingsford Hale RN, now chairman of 'FLAMBARDS', retired from the Royal Navy after 25 years service as a pilot and founded the 'CORNWALL AIRCRAFT PARK'. The park officially opened to the public on 10th June 1976, and was very well recieved by both local residents and the many holiday visitors in Cornwall. It attracted over 72,000 people during the first season. Towards the end of the season, the Park gained a special British Tourist Authority 'Come to Britain' award.
With our overall exhibitions becoming larger and more diverse, it was felt that the name 'CORNWALL AERO PARK' was no longer appropriate, and on 1st January 1987 a new name of 'FLAMBARDS THEME PARK' was adopted, named after our 'flagship' FLAMBARDS VICTORIAN VILLAGE'. In 2004, the Park was renamed 'FLAMBARDS EXPERIENCE.
There are plenty of opportunities to meet children's TV celebrities such as Peppa Pig, Sportacus and many other Special Guests as scheduled throughout the main season in 2010, including our very own Ferdi.
All this plus our thrilling rides, exhibitions and facilities that you would expect from the Premier visitor attraction in Cornwall.
The Extreme force boasts a 360 degree spin where you'll experience the high-speed take your breath away. This thrill ride rotates in a vertical arc in a negative “G” ride,16,358mm from ground level at its highest point.
The Hornet Rollercoaster is argued one of our most prestigious rides. At speeds capable of 42,1 km/h the sharp banking 63 degree turns and longitudinal inclinations of approximately 24 degrees create a true family thrill ride. Be thrilled by the speed and awesome G-force of the Thunderbolt as you spin high above the ground.
Feel the nervous anticipation on the Canyon River Log Flume as you climb steeply up the ramp, followed by a moment of heart stopping hesitation before a headlong plunge into the swirling channel below. Surf and swirl on the big ocean swell as part of the crew on the Rocking Tugboat. Let the Big Carousel take you on a gentle horse ride on this big classic roundabout.
The Garden Aviary
A wonderful collection of birds with exotic colours and song, found beyond Gus Honeybun's Burrow. A lovely peaceful garden to enjoy and maybe have a picnic.
