The Fruitmarket Gallery aims to make contemporary art accessible, without compromising art or under-estimating audiences.
The Gallery presents world-class, thought-provoking and challenging art made by both Scottish and international artists in an environment that is welcoming, engaging, informative and always free. The Gallery aims to give audiences the confidence to enjoy contemporary art and to understand the importance of art, artists, culture and creativity and their impact on individual and collective lives.
The Gallery’s creative programme includes exhibitions, commissions, interpretation, education and publishing in both print and electronic forms. Gallery facilities include a bookshop and a café. The Gallery is physically accessible and family-friendly.

The Café prides itself on making fresh and sumptuous specials every day. Our cooks like to create interesting dishes by mixing style and flavour, so expect everything from colourful, crunchy salads and light Scottish fish, beef and game dishes, to South East Asian noodle and rice options, hearty stews, curries and bakes, as well as exotic Mediterranean flans and tarts. Seasonal produce is always the starting point, so whatever you choose, you are guaranteed variety throughout the year.

The Gallery offers full price and concession-rate tickets to events
Concessionary rates are available for under 16’s, students, people in receipt of benefits and pensioners.
Access to exhibitions is free of charge
The building has level access to the lower gallery, which includes the café and bookshop.
There is a lift to the upper gallery.
An accessible toilet is located on the ground floor.
Gallery Information Assistants are available daily
They can provide guided tours and answer visitor’s questions.
The Gallery produces a free printed exhibition guide for each exhibition which is available in standard
format, large print and e-mail.
People with disabilities who are accompanied by personal assistants or support worker will not be charged a ticket price for their assistant.
The Fruitmarket Galley is centrally situated behind Edinburgh Waverley Rail Station, the Gallery is close to major bus routes on the Royal Mile, North Bridge, Waverley Bridge and Princes Street.
