Once the world’s largest woollen mills, today this museum presents a fascinating insight into the city’s industrial heritage.
Armley Mills was once the world's largest woollen mill and is now an award-winning industrial museum. The museum contains exhibits dating from the 18th and 19th centuries that show the history of textiles, clothing and engine and locomotive manufacture in the area.
The museum also illustrates the history of cinema projections, including the first moving pictures taken in Leeds, as well as 1920s silent movies. During the regular 'working weekends' several exhibits are operated including water wheels, a steam engine and the great spinning 'mules'.

HOW TO FIND US!
Leeds Industrial Museum is located just two miles out of the city centre on Canal Road off the main A65 road to Kirkstall.
Suggested Length of Visit: 2 - 3 hours
Public Transport: Leeds Industrial Museum is served by the number 5 bus service which picks up from Leeds Railway Station in Leeds City Centre. It operates every 20 minutes Monday to Saturday day time and every half hour evenings and Sundays.
Services 733,734,735 and 736 go to the VUE cinema complex on Kirkstall Road (Leeds Industrial Museum is located behind the complex, accessible by a foot bridge).
Car Park: There is free parking with disabled spaces near the entrance to Armley Mills Museum. There is additional parking at the VUE cinema complex which can be accessed from a foot bridge at the rear of the complex.
Disabled Access: The museum has full disabled access throughout with a lift to the first floor galleries. Disabled parking and drop off is available directly outside the museum entrance. A wheelchair is available to use.
