Description
The world’s oldest aquarium, SEA LIFE Brighton opened in 1872 complete with archways, and columns inspired by Gothic and Pompeian design and statues made from Bath stone, red Edinburgh granite and green marble. Its roof terrace had a roller-skating rink, smoking room, café and music conservatory. In the 50s and 60s, it hosted jazz nights with The Who performing every Wednesday night and the Montagu Motor Museum — the largest collection of vintage motors and sports cars in the UK.
Today, discover over 5,000 spectacular creatures at SEA LIFE Brighton. Admire the Big Fish tank, full of rescued giant fish such as the Red Tailed Catfish and Black Pacu. Look out for the black markings on the Black Tip Reef Shark and the two barbs in between the nostrils of the Nurse Shark.
Explore the underwater world with Day and Night Ocean Experience. As you journey through, you’ll discover the magic of the ocean from day to night in the 750,000-litre display. Marvel at the bio-florescent tropical shore and beauty of the bio-luminescent UV coral.
Meet Green Sea Turtles Lulu and Gulliver, who are 82 years old and Herman, the Pig Nosed Turtle whose ancestors outlived the dinosaurs! You’ll also come face-to-face with Terrapin Turtles and watch how the males try to impress the ladies and learn how SEA LIFE rehabilitates and releases many of its Sea Turtles.
Set under the original Victorian architecture, in the Victorian Arcade you’ll discover that octopuses have 3 hearts as well as see jellyfish, colourful clownfish, stingrays, starfish, piranhas, Eugene the Iguana, seahorses and more!
