Exploring the French Capital
With five pre-loaded single journeys on your Metro Pass, it’s never been easier to explore the magnificent city of Paris. Jump on the metro at Gare du Nord and visit some of the world’s most iconic sights, including the Louvre, where you’ll come face to face with Leonardo Da Vinci’s masterpiece, the Mona Lisa. Then head to the Eiffel Tower, a must when in Paris!
A short ride away is the Arc de Triomphe, built to commemorate Napoleon’s victories. Or why not visit the spectacular Notre Dame Cathedral, the terrifying Catacombs or peruse the designer boutiques along the Champs-Elysees.
Christmas Markets
The festive period in Paris is simply magical, and a trip to the capital wouldn’t be complete without visiting one of the many Marchés de Noël or Christmas Markets.
Located next to the world-famous Louvre Museum, La Magie de Noël in Tuileries Garden is one of Paris’ biggest and most popular Christmas markets. It stretches across the garden’s entire north edge and features an ice rink, Ferris wheel as well as a champagne bar. Taste the yummiest traditional onion soup, mulled wine and roasted chestnuts as you wonder through 100 joyous stalls.
Just across the Seine from the historic Notre Dame in Square René Viviani is a picturesque Christmas market. Here, you’ll discover plenty of good quality hand-made artisan gifts and local produce including silk scarves, candles, ceramics and of course, dry sausages, macarons, pretzels and cheese! What’s more, the Square is home to the oldest tree in Paris.
Set in front of the Eiffel Tower, the Champs de Mars Christmas market is one of the more photo-worthy markets. Enjoy a wide selection of festive stalls, gourmet dishes and treats as you admire the scintillating icon of Paris in the backdrop.
Head to the Hôtel de Ville Christmas Market for a winter wonderland experience. Full of snow-covered trees, the city hall illuminates with a sparkling light show and features a carousel, tubing and of course, delicious food.
If you’re by the iconic Sacre Coeur, the Montmarte Christmas market at Place des Abbesses is worth a visit. One of the smaller markets, you’ll find all the typical festive treats such as mulled wine, Nutella-drizzled crepes, roasted chestnuts and escargot.
