Description
Britain has a long and epic naval history and you can get a comprehensive look at some of the most iconic moments, figures and ships at The Portsmouth Historic Dockyard. Located within a working naval base, Portsmouth is home to the UK’s leading naval history attraction and the British Royal Navy.

Climb aboard four major historic war vessels including the iconic HMS Victory, Lord Nelson’s flag ship at the Battle of Trafalgar and the oldest naval ship still in commission, with 241 years’ service as of 2019.

A quintessential piece of British Naval history, the HMS Victory was the ship that carried Nelson’s body to England after he was fatally wounded during the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805. As well as Nelson’s ship you can get on board the only surviving ship from World War I’s Gallipoli Campaign HMS M.33 and Queen Victoria’s HMS Warrior from 1860.

Hop on a waterbus to Gosport and explore the Cold War Submarine HMS Alliance and take a Harbour Tour to cruise around Portsmouth Harbour to get an up close look at the ships of the modern Royal Navy.

There are so many things to see and do at the Portsmouth Historic Dockyard but no pressure to cram it all into one day. With your entry ticket you can return as many times as you like within the year!

A perfect day out for the history buffs, the family, or anyone looking for something different!
