York has a dark and mysterious past dating back over 2000 years. On this guided walking tour, you will wander around the streets of York learning about the famous son of York, Guy Fawkes, who plotted to blow-up the Houses of Parliament in 1605, an event still marked each year. The tour will take you past many of the world-famous landmarks in York, such as the Shambles and York Minster. You will discover how the famous highwayman Dick Turpin was captured in York (by complete accident), and then hung in 1739. York has a well-known past linking it closely to the Vikings, but you will hear those stories that others dare to tell you.

This tour is suitable for all ages and is conducted at a gentle pace. It’s a great trip to combine with the Golden Tours hop-on hop-off open top bus tour, as it will give you the alternative inside-track on York’s bloody past.
