Description

Canterbury Cathedral and Christmas Market
Founded in 597 by St Augustine, Canterbury Cathedral is one of England’s most famous Christian structures and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Visit the towering gothic cathedral and follow in the footsteps of pilgrims, who flocked here after the famous murder or Archbishop Thomas Becket in 1170. Inside, there is plenty of history to be seen in paintings, sculptures, stained glass and more.

Just a short walk from the cathedral you’ll find the magical Christmas Market. Featuring 70 themed huts, fantastic local and international food and drink, Santa’s Grotto, arts and crafts activities and live musical performances on select days, you’ll be in the festive spirit in no time.

Winchester Cathedral and Christmas Market
One of the largest and finest medieval cathedrals in Europe, Winchester Cathedral was built in 1079 by the Normans. It’s been a place of worship for over 900 years and is home to some incredible artefacts including the Winchester Bible — the largest surviving 12th century English bible handwritten in Latin. It’s also the resting place of the famous author, Jane Austen and where Queen Mary I or Bloody Mary married Prince Philip of Spain. For incredible views of the city, make sure to climb the 213 steps to the top of the church tower.

Inspired by traditional German Christmas Markets, Winchester’s wooden chalets will house handpicked exhibitors, local crafts, festive food and warm mulled wine. There’ll also be magical Christmas lights and carol concerts. It's no wonder that the market attracts 400,000 visitors each year.

Birmingham’s Frankfurt Christmas Market
The largest German Christmas Market outside of Germany and Austria, Birmingham’s Frankfurt Christmas Market promises a large selection of traditional food and drink including pretzels, schnitzels, bratwursts and of course, gluhwein, weissbeer and hot chocolate. The sound of carol singers will fill the air as you browse the stalls featuring handcrafted gifts, festive decorations, toys and more. Don’t forget to take a ride on the Carousel or skate around the ice rink!
