Description
Lacock
Adventure to Lacock to experience a beautifully preserved medieval village. Not much has changed here in over 200 years and you can admire the original timber-framed cottages, quaint narrow pebbled streets, old village lock-up and lack of telephone cables and satellites. This is what makes the village the ideal backdrop for periodic dramas such as Downton Abbey and Pride and Prejudice. Most famous of all, discover some of the filming locations for Harry Potter including Lacock Abbey which served as the interior for Hogwarts and Harry Potter’s parents’ house.
After your walking tour of Lacock, you’ll enjoy lunch at the Sign of the Angel, a 15th century coaching inn that has retained so much of its medieval character. From wonky beams, oak furniture and inglenook fireplaces, it’s the perfect spot to dine on some British classics.
Oxford
Home to the oldest university in the English-speaking world, Oxford is a historic city full of quaint cobbled streets and magnificent points of interest. During your guided walking tour, you’ll stroll through the charming college courtyards including that of Christ Church College and Trinity College. See the stunning 17th century Bodleian Library, the 13th century University Church of St Mary the Virgin and many ancient squares and towering spires. After the walking tour, you’ll have some free time to soak in the unique baroque designs and architecture for yourself.
